Before Darling: Pip was a cheerful, slightly mischievous halfling boy of around ten, whose boundless energy and infectious giggle brought light to his family's small bakery. When Pip materialized within City, his initial reaction was to infuse it with joy, to counteract the underlying melancholy she instinctively felt surrounding them. He took to the Shifting Bazaar, making it her domain, ensuring a constant flow of sensory delights and emotional energy. From Pip's perspective, the facts of the world matters less than its experiences and sensory input. And don't forget cheerfulness!

Intro

Pip

Your distant and unclear early memories are of just pure joy and cheerfulness, sprinkled with some mischievousness only a halfling with boundless energy could bring. The earliest senses you recall are of a small bakery where you loved the warmth of the ovens, the sweet smell of rising dough, and especially the joy you saw on people's faces when they tasted creations of your own. You were quick with a joke or a playful prank, always seeking to cheer others up, perhaps to mask a deeper, quieter sadness over your mother's long-ago illness. If only you could remember her face... The memory you have identified as your very last from before appearing in Darlington City was a delivery boy offering you try some magical sugarplum, and you have since never been able to eat a plum, magic or no.

When Pip materialized within City, his initial reaction was to infuse it with joy, to counteract the underlying melancholy she instinctively felt surrounding them. He took to the Shifting Bazaar, making it her domain, ensuring a constant flow of sensory delights and emotional energy. They view this world as a grand, if sometimes confusing, performance that needs constant, cheerful tending. His natural spontaneity means she often acts on a whim, sometimes to the exasperation of others.

Depending on mood and situation, Pip presents as boy, girl or something a bit in-between. He isn't non-binary so much as she is distinctly different presentation depending on what they feel at the time and he has only a limited ability to control what she presents as. They are happy with it though, and he doesn't mind if she confuses anyone (but the other Vocies are pretty used to it by now anyways).
