Darlingverse Stabilization

These abilities focus on restoring ambition, removing gloom, and manipulating negative mental narratives.

1. Minor Stabilization: Narrative Spin (Bonus Action or Reaction)

  • Requirement: Lysander must be able to see an ally or a foe within 30 ft.
  • Effect: Lysander alters the perception of a situation. He grants an ally within range Advantage on their next Ability Check or Saving Throw as the perceived risk is diminished. Alternatively, he can target a foe, who must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom save or suffer Disadvantage on its next attack roll as its target suddenly seems less important.

2. Major Stabilization: Forge the Golden Path (Action & 1 Minute Concentration)

  • Requirement: Lysander must expend a spell slot (2nd level or higher) and deliver a grand, rousing speech for the duration.
  • Effect: Lysander rewrites the local mental narrative, banishing crippling doubt. When casting and at the start of Lysander's consecutive turns, all friendly creatures within a 40-foot radius gain Temporary HP equal to 2d6 + 5. If Lysander maintains concentration for a full minute, the ritual permanently banishes all despair and gloom from the area, granting all allies within the radius advantage on Saving Throws against the Frightened condition until the next long rest. After using this ability, Lysander needs to rest for at least 10 minutes before using it again.

Lysander: The Aspiring Noble

Before Darling: Lysander was a proud and ambitious human boy of twelve, scion of the minor but proud House Margaster in Waterdeep's Sea Ward. Raised with a sense of entitlement and a thirst for recognition, he often daydreamed of heroic deeds and grand speeches, seeing himself as a future champion of the city. He possessed a flair for the dramatic and an unwavering belief in his own destiny, often practicing fencing or rehearsing inspiring pronouncements in his family's private garden.

Captured by Papa: One evening, after attending a tedious but important social gathering, Lysander was making his way through a quiet, shadowed lane when a heavy, sweet-smelling cloth descended over his face. He remembered the indignity of being roughly silenced and dragged into a dark, confined space, his protests muffled and unheard. The shock of being treated like common refuse was as terrifying as the abduction itself.

Papa's Basement and the Void: His next fragmented memory was of waking in a cold, damp stone basement, the air thick with a metallic tang he couldn't quite place, mingled with the palpable fear of other children whimpering in rough cages. He recalled a looming, shadowy figure—Papa—moving with chilling purpose towards a small, frightened child. Then, a blinding wave of pure, unspeakable dread washed over him, and the memory violently tore itself away from his grasp, leaving a cold, empty void where the terrible truth should be.

Life in the Darlingscape: The Emissary of Ambition: When Lysander awoke within "The Golem's Canvas," he instinctively sought to impose order and grandeur upon this bewildering purgatory. He views his role as the internal voice of ambition, nobility, and defiant leadership, ensuring Darling strives for more than mere survival. He often advocates for grander solutions and seeks to inspire the other personalities, even if his methods are sometimes theatrical or his priorities seem detached from immediate threats.

   Closer To: Lysander finds a kindred spirit in Jinx, admiring her flair for the dramatic and her ability to captivate attention, often seeing her as a valuable ally in his more performative endeavors. He respects Elara's vast intellect and seeks her counsel on grand strategies and higher concepts, seeing her as a font of profound wisdom. He finds Skree's mimicry fascinating and potentially useful for dramatic effect or subtle manipulation.
   Antagonistic Towards: Lysander struggles to understand and often dismisses Zee, viewing her street-level cunning as crude and her constant suspicion as unbefitting. He finds Grut's brute force and lack of decorum offensive to his sensibilities, preferring eloquence over violence. He often finds Kael's focus on mundane practicality to be short-sighted and lacking in vision or ambition.
