💀 Savnok the Inscrutable (Vestige of a Vestige)

This stat block is designed for a party of Level 5-7 Voices. Savnok is a spectral opponent fighting for its parasitic existence within Darling's Undercroft.

Core Stat Block

  • Type: Aberration (Fragmented Vestige)
  • AC: 16 (Natural Armor/Illusory Sheen)
  • HP: 100 (Divided into 3 Phases)
  • Speed: 40 ft., Fly 30 ft. (hover)
  • STR: 10 (+0) DEX: 16 (+3) CON: 14 (+2) INT: 22 (+6) WIS: 16 (+3) CHA: 18 (+4) Saves: Int +7, Wis +6, Cha +7 Skills: Deception +7, Insight +6, Stealth +6
  • Damage Resistances: Cold, Lightning, Thunder; Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing from nonmagical attacks
  • Damage Immunities: Psychic, Poison
  • Condition Immunities: Charmed, Exhaustion, Frightened, Grappled, Paralyzed, Petrified, Poisoned, Prone, Restrained
  • Senses: Truesight 60 ft., Passive Perception 16

Special Traits

  • Inscrutable Defense (Phase 1/2): Savnok can’t be surprised, and any creature attempting to read his thoughts or ascertain his true nature must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or take 1d8 Psychic damage and be Frightened until the end of its next turn.
  • Vestige of Chaos (Aura, Phase 3): All Aberrations (including those generated by his abilities) within 30 feet of Savnok have advantage on attack rolls and are immune to the Frightened condition.

3-Phase Encounter Structure

The fight takes place in the Budding Stronghold, a quiet, unsettling chamber deep beneath the Gallery. Phases are determined by Savnok’s remaining hit points (HP).

Phase 1: The Veiled Schemer (100 HP – 67 HP)

Savnok focuses on evasion and targeting those who threaten his structure (especially the Research Team).

  • Glimpse of the Secret (Action): Savnok points at one target. DC 15 Wisdom save. On a failure, they take **2d8 Psychic damage** and are imposed with Disadvantage on their next attack roll or ability check.
  • Psychic Blur (Bonus Action): When targeted by an attack or a saving throw spell, Savnok can instantly teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space. This movement leaves behind an illusory double until the start of his next turn.

Phase 2: Unveiling Regret (66 HP – 34 HP)

Savnok's defenses crack, forcing him to draw power from the surrounding chaos and summon allies.

  • Manifested Regret (Action): Savnok summons two Fragments of Guilt (use Shadow stats, but with Psychic damage instead of Necrotic, and no Strength drain). They act immediately after Savnok.
  • Siphoned Memory (Reaction): When an ally (including a *Fragment of Guilt*) is defeated, Savnok can absorb its essence. He regains **1d6 HP** and gains advantage on his next attack roll.
  • Strategic Relocation (Movement/Lair Action): Once per round (not on his turn), Savnok can use a Lair Action to cause a pillar to shift, imposing Disadvantage on all ranged attacks targeting him until the start of his next turn.

Phase 3: The Parasitic Core (33 HP – 0 HP)

Savnok is critically injured. He drops evasion and focuses on absolute psychic assault.

  • Secrets Made Manifest (Action, Replaces Glimpse): Savnok unleashes a torrent of psychic energy in a 15-foot radius sphere. Creatures must make a DC 16 Constitution save, taking **4d6 Psychic damage** and being Stunned until the end of their next turn on a failure (half damage, no Stun on a success).
  • Anchor's Desperation (Recharge 5-6): Savnok gains **8 Temporary Hit Points** and his next attack is made with Advantage.
  • Final Secret (Death Trigger): When Savnok drops to 0 HP, his body dissolves into a lingering cloud of smoke. Any player ending their turn in this cloud must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or feel a terrifying awareness: that the only way to truly destroy this stronghold is to sever the connection that granted Darling his supernatural, external gifts.

Fragment of Guilt (Mini-Minion)

A shifting, spectral shape drawn from Darling's buried self-recrimination and regret, summoned by Savnok to defend his stronghold.

  • Condition Immunities: Exhaustion, Frightened, Grappled, Paralyzed, Petrified, Poisoned, Prone, Restrained
  • Senses: Darkvision 60 ft., Passive Perception 10

  • Stealth in Shadows: While in dim light or darkness, the Fragment has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks.

Actions
