Calendar
The Hökaland year is 357 days long, uses 12 months and 51 weeks to delimit the passage of time. Things like the Summer and Winter equinoxes are celebrated as holidays, as well as many other times. All kingdoms influenced by the Fallen Empire (and most others) use the same system for dates and time, which in and of itself are built on the old civilizations of the Southern Sea.

Time
- Although the Hökaland time consists of 12 hours (that are 2 hours long by our standards), this wiki use either a 24 hour clock or 12 hours am/pm clock to denote times to make it easier to read and comprehend.
The time of the world is structured through dividing the day into 12 equally sized chunks called hours. Normally the time is kept by the use of water clocks in important institutions or in Rahndom churches, where the time is denoted by ringing a large bell, but this is only done for most of the daytime hours and non-ecclesiastics/non-academics do not plan their day based on the time but on the position of the Sun. Time is mainly just used for observing particular traditions and sometimes in superstitious rituals.
The Year
- Hökaland uses 12 months that sometimes are referenced by the Old Empire names in Lingus and sometimes in colloquial Earth months. The naming is very straight-forward, however.
- 357 days long
- 51 weeks of 7 days each
- 12 months, 30 or 29 days (Unum, Duo, Tribus, Quattuor, Quinque, Sext, Septem, Octo, Novem, Decem, Undecim, Duodecim)
- 9 months are 30 days long (month Unum, Duo, Tribus, Quinque, Sext, Septem, Novem, Decem, Undecim)
- 3 months are 29 days long (Quattuor, Octo, Duodecim)
- First equinox falls on the 27th of Tribus at 6am (third hour).
- Summer solsice falls on the 29th of Sext at noon (sixth hour).
- Second equinox falls on the 29th of Septem at 6pm (ninth hour).
- Winter solstice falls on the 29th of Undecim at midnight, after the end of the day. This is also the New Year and the culmination of the Jól Tide (called Sol Invictus in the Southrealms).
Birth
Being born on particular times/days is said to have particular meanings, for instance, but since people most often don't know what time it is at night, much of it is improvised and many babies are born on the 7th hour of the 7th day of the 7th month, because it's said to be a particularly lucky time to be born. The Septem month is often also seen as Rahn's month, when he blesses the fields with few, but rich, rains as well as plenty of sunlight.
Particular dates
- The Year of the Spearhawk, 1635 - The working year where the game starts. It's under revision.
- Gwennport Carneval 13th to 27th of Tribus - ends spectacularly on the First Equinox.
