The Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition system builds on legacy from all the older DnD systems, most dominantly from DnD 3.5 and DnD 4 (mostly lessons on how to NOT make a system from 4e). The focus is on easy and smooth rules that fasten and simplify gameplay with more focus on dice than numbers (often giving "Advantage" - roll 2 d20 and pich the highest rather than a numerical bonus) but also less options for customisation in the shape of feats or using gold for equipment.
The most dominant online tool for DnD 5e is DnD Beyond, which you need an account on to easily make characters for any of Hökaland/Gunnar campaigns.

Walking bare-footed
If you are used to walking in shoes and forced to walk without shoes, you wil lwalk at 10 feet less per round than normal and will take 1d4 damage per mile walked (CON check DC 16 to prevent). For every 20 points of damage daken in this fashion, you also gain a level of exhaustion.
Should you be forced to roll a Con save because of hot or cold environment, you add +5 to the DC unless your race specifically can comfortably travel without shoes.
If a character has spent significant time walking without shoes (weeks at the very minimum), they do so from culture or race, they can do so unhindered.
